Personal Investing 101:
Buying & Selling Stocks Workshop

David Schaverien – CA, MBA, BCom

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” – Benjamin Franklin

Traditional gender roles have typically placed the male partner in charge of the family’s finances. To empower our women, we wanted to ensure they are all capable of being savvy investors so they can have control of their finances.

On October 15, David Schaverien – CA, MBA, BComm – helped us dive into the basics on how to trade stocks and build a diversified portfolio (without a broker). Dave taught us what the difference is between Index and Mutual Funds and when is the best time to buy. We could tell the group was surprised at how fun and interesting investing really can be… especially since every participant has asked for an Investing 201 Workshop! Kudos Dave!

Special thanks to: Rianne Pater for the delicious brunch, Karen Nguyen and Dominique Calvert for facilitating, Donna Finley for hosting, and Beth O’Connor for taking photos.
